Mindfulness
The American Psychological Association defines mindfulness and mindfulness meditation in the following ways:
MINDFULNESS
Mindfulness is being aware of one’s internal states and surroundings. The concept has been applied to various therapeutic interventions.
MINDFULNESS MEDITATION
This is a type of meditation in which a person focuses attention on his or her breathing, and thoughts, feelings, and sensations are experienced freely as they arise. Mindfulness meditation is intended to enable individuals to become highly attentive to sensory information and to focus on each moment as it occurs.
